Yarra Valley Taxis runs private winery tours with one driver for the whole day, visiting cellar doors across the region including Domaine Chandon, Yering Station, TarraWarra Estate, Rochford Wines, De Bortoli, Oakridge Wines and Coldstream Hills. Half day and full day tours are available, the itinerary is yours to set, and the car waits at each cellar door so no one has to watch the clock.

What Is Included in a Yarra Valley Winery Tour?

Your driver picks you up from your accommodation, hotel or home address, drives you between each winery on your list, waits while you taste and eat, and takes you home at the end of the day. There is no sharing the car with another group, no fixed departure times and no minimum group size. A couple gets the same private tour as a group of eight, just in a smaller vehicle.

Maxi Van tours accommodate groups of up to 11 passengers travelling together. For larger groups requiring multiple vehicles, contact us to discuss the arrangement. If you want the same car and driver for more than wineries, such as a function or a dinner later in the day, book it through our chauffeur service by the hour or the day.

Which Wineries Does Yarra Valley Taxis Visit?

If you have a specific list of cellar doors in mind, share it when you book and we will plan the most efficient route between them.

What Is the Difference Between a Half Day and Full Day Tour?

A half day tour typically covers two to three cellar doors and runs for three to four hours. It suits travellers who want to visit a couple of wineries without committing to a full day, or those combining a winery tour with another activity such as lunch at a specific venue or an afternoon at Healesville Sanctuary.

A full day tour covers three to five or more wineries depending on how long you stay at each, and runs from mid morning to late afternoon. It suits groups making a dedicated day of it across the region. Both options are quoted based on your starting suburb and the wineries you want to visit.

Two Starting Points

If you are not sure where to start, these are the kind of days most groups end up booking. Both are a starting point, tell us what you would like to change and we will adjust the stops.

Half Day Classic

Domaine Chandon and Yering Station, around three and a half hours including tasting time at each cellar door. Suits a couple or a small group wanting a relaxed afternoon without committing to a full day.

Full Day Explorer

Five wineries including TarraWarra Estate, with a lunch stop built into the middle of the day. Runs from mid morning to late afternoon and suits a group making a dedicated day of it across the region.

How Winery Tour Pricing Works

A winery tour is priced per vehicle, not per person, so everyone in the car shares one fare. The fare has two parts: the driving between your pickup, each cellar door and home again, charged at the same metered rate as a local taxi trip, and the time your driver spends waiting while you taste and eat.

Both parts depend on how you plan the day, so we do not publish a single from price. These are the things that move the quote:

  • Your starting suburb and where you want to finish
  • How many cellar doors you visit and how far apart they are
  • How long you stay at each stop, including lunch
  • The vehicle your group needs, from a sedan up to the Maxi Van for 11 passengers
  • Whether it is a half day or a full day

For a quick quote, call or text 0404 506 728 with your date, pickup suburb, group size and the wineries you have in mind. We give you the price before the day, so you know the cost before you travel.

Planning Lunch on a Winery Tour

Lunch is usually the centre of a full day. Several estates on the usual route run restaurants that take bookings, including Oakridge Wines, TarraWarra Estate and De Bortoli. Book your table, tell us the time when you book the tour, and we will plan the stops around it so you arrive on time and the car is waiting when you finish. If you would rather keep the day casual, many cellar doors serve grazing plates and cheese boards alongside the tasting.

Celebrating something? Birthdays, hens days and work groups of up to 11 travel together in the Maxi Van, so the whole group arrives at each cellar door at the same time and nobody has to drive home.

Can the Itinerary Change on the Day?

Yes. Unlike a shared bus tour on a fixed schedule, your driver can stay longer at a winery your group is enjoying, skip one that is running behind, or add a spontaneous stop if you pass somewhere that looks interesting. The tour is private, so the day moves at your pace rather than the pace of a larger group. If you change your mind about a stop, just let the driver know.

When Is the Best Time to Book a Yarra Valley Winery Tour?

Weekend tours are popular year round, and summer through to harvest season between December and April is particularly busy across the region. Booking ahead is recommended to secure your preferred date and vehicle. Call 0404 506 728 or book online to lock in your itinerary. Weekday tours are generally easier to secure on shorter notice if your schedule allows.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I visit Yarra Valley wineries without driving?

The easiest way is to book a private taxi or chauffeur for the half day or full day. Yarra Valley Taxis picks you up from your hotel, accommodation or home address, drives you to each cellar door on your list and waits while you taste. Stops can include Domaine Chandon, Yering Station, TarraWarra Estate, Rochford Wines, Oakridge, De Bortoli and Coldstream Hills. Everyone in the group can drink freely because there is no designated driver needed. The car and driver stay with you throughout the day rather than dropping you off and leaving.

How much does a Yarra Valley winery tour taxi cost?

A winery tour is priced per vehicle, not per person, so everyone in the car shares one fare. It is made up of the driving between your pickup, each cellar door and home, at our standard metered rate, plus the time your driver waits while you taste. Because that depends on your starting suburb, how many wineries you visit, how long you stay at each, the vehicle your group needs and whether it is a half day or full day, there is no single from price. Call or text 0404 506 728 with your date, pickup suburb, group size and the wineries you have in mind, and we will give you a quote before the day with no hidden charges.

Can I book a taxi for a full day of wine tasting in the Yarra Valley?

Yes. Yarra Valley Taxis offers half day and full day private winery tours with one driver for the whole trip. A half day tour typically covers two to three cellar doors over three to four hours, while a full day can include five or more wineries across the region. Tell us the wineries you want to visit and roughly how long you expect to spend at each stop. We will plan the most efficient route between your chosen cellar doors and provide a quote before the day. Call 0404 506 728 or book online to arrange your tour.

Can the itinerary change on the day if our group wants to?

Yes. Because the tour is fully private, your driver can adjust the itinerary at any point during the day. If the group wants to spend longer at a particular cellar door, the driver waits. If a winery is running behind or the group decides to skip it, the driver moves to the next stop. If you pass somewhere that looks interesting and want to add it, just ask. The flexibility of a private taxi tour is one of its main advantages over a shared coach where the whole group must follow a fixed schedule regardless of what anyone prefers.

Is there a minimum group size for a winery tour?

No. Yarra Valley Taxis has no minimum group size for a private winery tour. A couple travelling together gets the same fully private experience as a group of eight or ten, just in a smaller vehicle. Single passengers are also welcome. Groups of up to 11 passengers travelling together can be accommodated in our Maxi Van, so the whole group travels in one vehicle rather than splitting into separate cars. If you have more than 11 in the group, contact us to discuss multiple vehicle arrangements for the day.

I just wanted to say thank you for the reliable service that you provided for the wedding transport for Saturday 3 February. All the taxis arrived on time or slightly earlier and the drivers were able to cope with the chaos of getting guests organised into each taxi and packing up the wedding at the same time. It was especially appreciated that the car for the wedding couple leaving arrived a few minutes early.

We were looking for a reliable taxi service to get us back and forth between Brunswick and Warrandyte for a wedding and Yarra Valley Taxis were absolutely excellent! They arrived slightly early for both rides, and both drivers were very professional, friendly and drove well. Worth mentioning we were from abroad and it was still super easy to book over the phone and we received communication from the drivers via text message.
