NDIS Transport in the Yarra Valley: What Participants Need to Know

If you have an NDIS plan and live in the Yarra Valley, you may be able to use plan funding to pay for transport trips rather than covering them out of pocket. Yarra Valley Taxis is a registered NDIS provider, which means participants can book using their NDIS funding and have payment processed through their plan management arrangement.

What transport trips are eligible

NDIS transport support covers trips that help a participant pursue their funded goals. Common eligible trips include:

  • Medical and specialist appointments
  • Allied health and therapy visits
  • Day programs and community participation activities
  • Social and recreational activities included in a plan
  • Education and employment commitments

What is covered depends on the individual plan. Check with your support coordinator or plan manager if you are unsure whether a specific trip type is funded in your plan.

How the booking works

Advise at the time of booking that the trip is an NDIS booking and provide your participant number. Payment is then arranged according to plan type:

  • Self-managed plans: pay the fare directly and submit the receipt through the myplace portal for reimbursement
  • Plan-managed plans: the invoice is sent to your plan manager, who processes payment on your behalf
  • Agency-managed plans: contact the NDIA or your local area coordinator to confirm the arrangement for local transport providers

Work Safe and TAC transport

Yarra Valley Taxis also accepts Work Safe and Transport Accident Commission bookings for participants approved for transport assistance following a workplace injury or accident. Advise your claim type at the time of booking and have your claim number ready.

Coverage area

The service covers the full Yarra Valley including Healesville, Yarra Glen, Lilydale, Croydon, Chirnside Park, Coldstream, Seville, Warburton and surrounding townships. For participants in areas with limited public transport, a pre-booked local taxi is often the most reliable way to make appointments on time.

Setting up a regular schedule

If you have recurring weekly appointments, ask about setting up a standing booking at the same time each week. This gives your plan manager a predictable recurring invoice to process. Call to discuss the schedule and a driver will be pre-allocated each time.
